The conditions were perfect, but the breeze was difficult at The Bus Stop.
Thirteen skippers came out in the mid afternoon sun to enjoy some fun racing. The NE breeze was gusty and very tricky across the whole course. We all had to race in it so there were plenty of opportunities to gain places.
Thanks Nigel168 for the time you spent tuning and coaching our new skippers today. They do appreciate the help given and we can all see the improvement in their sailing. Their early starts put pressure on the fleet to try to catch them while at the same time allowing them to sail the course mainly without interference from the rest of the fleet. Sailing the course is far better than sailing around in the Paddling Pool.If other skippers would like to help with a bit of coaching please feel free to step in and help the new skippers.
I need to point out a feature of the Matata Mauler's very nice Pink 448 boat. It has a skipper who knows a lot about presentation. Check out his efforts in the photos, Pete 448, you're a winner.
We had a good number of winners today, there were excellent lifts, hard balls of wind to carry you through, and there was no regular wind pattern. All put together amounted to very interesting racing.
Three RTW's were keenly sailed affairs. Peter 248, Pat 39 , and Graeme 230 were the winners, all sailing great races.
Enjoy the photos
