DF65's At the Bus Stop 24 June 2021

What a winter’s day to go sailing. 11 skippers brought their DF65’s to the lake to race and race they did. Great to welcome a couple of the boys from Papamoa. Thanks for making the trip across town for some enjoyable sailing. A variety of courses were set to test skills.

It has become very noticeable how close the racing is with these great little boats. Nice to see skippers exchanging ideas of how to squeeze an extra ounce of speed from their boats. We often see a bunch of boats all arriving at the top mark at the same time because they have all sailed well.

The breeze was patchy to start then it settled into the west with a little bit of chilly south mixed in to keep the brains sharp. The lake level had dropped substantially since we last sailed so gumboots weren’t necessary. All in all a great day sailing.

On the Dragon Boat

Pete 179

Just a note of thanks from the RO and fellow sailors for Pete's input with the photos and his inspiring reports.

Also to mention his spectacular sailing skills with the Dragon boat- it may be an older model but heck he can sail it well and he demonstrated that well and truly today with several wins.

Well done Pete!!!

Cheers,
