Alf crossing the Tasman

Alf steering my favorite boat, the America's Cup, KZ 7

Owen's yachting days.Helped by my dad to build a 'Sabot" and learned the basics of sailing, in front of the family lakeside 'Crib' at Frankton, on Lake Wakatipu (near Queenstown). There was no incentive to go over the side with the water temperature below 10o c. Lake sailing - short chop and wind shifts galore! Queentown Airport is above the foreshore in the photo background. Many years later I progressed to 'Karizma' a 20 foot glass over ply 'Carabou' trailer sailor, pictured at Tauranga Sulphur Point launch ramp jetty. A great yacht for spending a few days at a time cruising the Rotorua area lakes and Tauranga Harbour.

In more recent years I downsized to IOM's.
