Funny old day racing DF65's at The Bus Stop

It took a while for the assembly, but a fleet of nine boats eventually lined up for the race start. Forecast 10k from NNW turned out to be slightly ahead of zero. I checked the coast guard mid morning and the now cast said 14 gusting 20 knots, so things were a bit mixed up. Big black clouds around didn't help. So very light to start, lifting as the day moved forward.

We had an afternoon of good fun racing with many winners. Tim 139 and Ian 188 showed early form. We had a couple of visitors today, Bob 58 from Auckland and Andy110 from Kapiti. Andy was unable to sail as he had a sick dog to attend to, but we'll see him next trip.

The RTW (Round the World) last race of the day was another thriller. Pete 179 managed to sneak through the finish first and went clockwise with Pat 39 tucked nicely in behind. A tactical move up the side saw Pat round the top mark and hold on for the rest of the circumnavigation to take a well earned win. Well Done Pat.

Thank for coming, particularly Bob 58, we hope you enjoyed sailing with us and come again sometime.

Pete 179
