The day didn't look too flash with a lot of wind and rain during the morning. Nigel and Pete were thinking it looked a bit nasty and after a discussion decided to have lunch and see what developed. The rain stopped and the wind stayed up so off to the lake we went. It did not disappoint, sunny and a very fresh south west coming all the way down the lake. A course was set and we were into it. Nine boats were slightly overpowered with some heavy gusts.
Garry 54 was setting the early pace. Others became used to the conditions and started winning races. We were catching weed from time to time that dropped performance for some. John 292 made some adjustments and won some races as did Nigel 168 and Pete 197. Mike on the new Dragon changed settings and after good starts led round the top mark a couple of times and set the pace. Tim 138 struggled a bit with boat control and found his boat was carrying a lot of water. Graeme, it's hard to know which boat he's sailing, specialised in weed gathering.
A real fun day sailing that needed good setting up and slick boat handling. Some more of those conditions would be good.
On the Dragon Boat.
