Westhaven Annual Woodie Contest

5am Saturday and the alarm clock woke me up. Quick Shower and off around the corner to pick up Ken

By 6am we were heading over the Kaima's heading for Auckland.

This year I took the GPS and she took up to Westhaven Drive with no issues.

We pulled into the normal east sailing spot and there was no one there ?

Thankfully we could see the blue dinghy and the marks laid out on the West side of the bay and drove over to that side.

The team was set up and we caught up with everyone and checked the boat weights at 8.30am

Westhaven Woodie Contest

It was soon 10am and it was hard to tell if was A or B rig? Gusts B rig ! Lulls A Rig !

I started on A rig (with the rest of the fleet) while Ken started on B rig.

Race one and it was all on....

Then a 10minute break was called for half the fleet to change to B rigs...

Two more races and another break to change to A

(rig changing continued most of the morning)

45minute lunch and we were back into it for a full on windy afternoon.

Great close racing normally being decided on the last wind shift to the top mark on the 1st beat..

Many thanks the Chris, Garry, John, Bernd and the rest of the crew for running another great Westhaven event.

3pm racing was over and we make it home by 6.30pm.

One Big Fun day. See you next year, NZL22
