It was raining as I drove past TePuke

Heading down Matata straights, oh no, 20 plus knots and solid whitecaps...

Around the corner, and pull into the Matata Lake fine, but it was glass, no wind, what the...

The team all helped me set up the staging area.

I set the bouys to the normal prevailing wind direction then waited and hoped.

A briefing quick briefing at 12.45 and then the gun went at 1pm as promised, A 3 lap races on a box course, top mark, spreader, bottom mark, spreader.  Start finish in the middle of the course.

Race one and 54 set the pace getting out to a blinder and showing the who was the one to watch today.  Good racing was had by all in tricky conditions.

The wind direction was pretty stable, but the wind was pumping, either very light, or very top end of A rig. Not quite enough for a B rig in the lighter sections of the race.. But everyone was thinking about it...

After 7 long races and plenty of smiling faces I called it and by 4pm everyone was heading home for a well-earned snooze on the couch before tea.

Gary on 54 showed a clean set of heals today, nice sailing and well done.

For the last race I put the 2023 Kings trophy up for grabs, won by Peter S.  Nice work Pete

Thank you everyone for being on time, great sailing, and helping with the set up and breakdown.  really appreciated.  Matata thank you for letting us use your great town.

See you next time, RO Graham
