DF65 Racing at The Bus Stop.

The forecast was for a fine, sunny afternoon and it turned out to be spot on. They didn't mention the strong SW wind that had a substantial chill factor attached. Plenty of clothes layering was evident with the 14 skippers who turned out.

Let's firstly congratulate top performers at last Friday's Tauranga champs. Garry 54 1st, Linton 404 2nd, Rob 501 4th, racing in a field of 23.  That's a top performance from our group and shows the standard that our fleet has moved to.

As well as that, Nigel 168 travelled to Auckland on Saturday and raced in the DF65 Auckland Champs. The racing was held using A+ rigs and Nigel had one session with Garry 54 last Thursday to get up to speed. He finished a creditable 6th in a fleet of 18 who regularly race with A+ rigs. Well done to all of you who competed in these two events.

Back to today. Wow, that was a mighty fine breeze and it was great to see everyone handling the conditions well. The chop was at another level and that shows in the photos. I hope everyone is letting plenty of air into their hulls as there was a lot of underwater stuff going on today. Sealing your boat for these days is essential and it can take some time to track a leak if you have one.

The conditions gave rise to some excellent wins, perhaps the most notable was the final 'Around the World' race won by Rob 501 after being chased all the way by Pete 197.

A great day out in some very fresh air.

Pete 197
