It was great to be back- at The Bus Stop.
A nice warm afternoon with a bit of cloud cover and a moderate NNE breeze greeted ten skippers today. It was my first day back for a few weeks due to various reasons and I was pumped up.
Nigel 168 sorted an appropriate gated course and we were into it. The wind was good at the start line, but as we went up the first beat all hell let loose. The wind was coming from everywhere because of the land knob. The result was skippers were struggling to figure out which way to go. There were auto tacks happening and boats in irons.
By the time the next race started the skippers had generally mastered the giant shifts. Lots of happy sailors grabbing good wins today. Mid afternoon the wind shifted eastward so Nigel adjusted the bottom of the gate to produce a better windward beat.
Three RTW's were raced at the end of the day, Adrian 136 taking the first and Pat39 taking the other two. Nice work fella's.
