I'm not sure of the official number of starters today, one number was 18 and the other was 20. It was a bit hard to get a grip on as one minute there was a NZL 104 then a 104 then 107 then a nude sail. Cripes there was some counting to do. Anyway, whatever the number was, it was an impressive site seeing all those DF65's on the startline.
The buildup to Cyclone Hale saw a strong Easterly wind coming over the hill behind us and hitting the water as bombs. Interesting sailing conditions and it was impressive watching skippers managing it. Well done everyone including Keith 127. To be honest I find it hard to understand that we can sail these little boats so well in these strong gusty winds.
Great spirit among the group today all there to enjoy ourselves, and we did.
Some good photos to view.
