A cracker day fun sailing at The Bus Stop.
The day was nice with a nippy SW breeze of about 8 Knots. The breeze dwindled somewhat during racing but was a long way better than we have had over the last month thank goodness.
13 boats were out to play so race starting was a little hectic, and I have to say most skippers are playing the game. It all comes down to boat control and timing. If you get either of these wrong, then you must be prepared to bail out. It's not nice to foul another boat because that boat often will get a poor start too. Also remember you can't come roaring in and whack another boat in the stern because they are slow off the line, again, bail out. That's enough of that.
Nigel 168 set a good gate course that was pretty much straight into the SW breeze. Winning a race was no pushover as all of our fleet have upped it's game. Four times I led around the top mark and three of them I finished way down the fleet. However, there were a lot of opportunities to gain places by working the puffs as they came down the lake. It's the old story, keep your head out of the boat and look ahead.
Garry 54 spent a lot of time helping Mark No Number, so hats off to you Garry for settling down a new member.
A few of us felt too cold today and packed up early, I have to say, we all have a few years under owe belts.
Garry 54 won the first RTW with Nigel 179 (Chartered) the second and Kent 717 taking the last one. Well sailed guys.
Remember that next Monday we run the "King for the day" and details are on both Facebook pages TRSC and The Ponds. We want a bumper fleet to make the King worthy of winning the racing.
