Wow, what fantastic afternoon at The Bus Stop!
The warm fine day brought out twelve skippers today. Good to see Pat 39 sailing his new Banana today. The wind was light SE with a little southerly bite to it.
Nigel 168 set a simple course with plenty of length, and we were racing. 146 Ian has been doing a bit of training down with the IOM boys and he put the heat on us in the first few races, good racing Ian.
There was a major incident mid-afternoon when Adrian 135 ran over a duck that was out on the lake minding it's own business. Te Papa Atawhai (DOC) have asked for a report as the duck laid a complaint because he thought Adrian broke the racing rules and didn't do a 360 turn. There was no damage to the duck, but it totally ruffled his feather layout. We are not sure if the duck will ever fly again.
The afternoon's racing was notable for the excellent behaviour of the skippers apart from Graeme 230 who appeared to be distracted by some of the the passing walkers. An enjoyable day resulted and the was even some good humour floated at times. Lots of happy winners.
Nigel 168 won two RTW's and Pete 179 won the other. The finishes were very tight in all races.
