Popup DF65 Race Day at The Bus Stop.
A decision was made yesterday to offer the POPUP race day to DF65 sailors in the area. The response was a little short of being good, however there are reasons for that. The eight skippers who entered had a blast.
We stood looking prior to the start of the first race as the breeze was swinging and very gusty. However, looking beyond that, the base breeze was mainly about 10knots. The next decision was A or B Rig. Three popped on their B Rigs while the rest stayed A Rig.Â
After the mid session break there was only one B Rig left with the others going up a gear to A rig. The racing was exciting and very competitive. Early on Lester 17 with his B Rig was on fire. As the fleet became used to the rugged conditions, the wins started to be shared. We had a couple of system breakdowns due to the strong wind, but that didn't stop the fun.
Lester 17 was the winner on the day showing consistent results. Pat 39 and Nigel 168 chased closely for second and third. The Skippers were all winners on the day.
Enjoy the photos.
