Where to Start? 8.30 I turned up at the Lakes to start setting up.. Sailors from Auckland were at the park, rigged and ready to go..
Nigel and Ken had set up the car parking tape, got the dingy out and set up the gazabo's. I could have slept in a little longer. Thanks everyone :)
Come 10.30am and we had a briefing on how HMS system works,
PS, The Lake has already gone green with algel bloom, so please wash your hands before eating food after handling your yachts.
10.58am and the starter was on for a 11am start. Heat B then Heat A. With 6 up and 6 down we had alot of boats moving between each race.
The wind played ball and came down the lake from the bridge. Not what I had expected today. But glad it did :) :) :)
We fired though the heats with quick two lap races. The usually supects had the good averages. The mid pack sailed just about every race today.
12.40 and a quick Lunch before the B Fleet returned the alot longer race course. The wind did a bit of a fart for this one race and we changed the course to suit. The long races gave much more passing lanes; however, the track could still run out if you did not nail the start.
Come 3pm there was not enough time for another full set, so an all-in non-point scoring Enduro race was held while we up top, totaled the points (thanks to Alan Roberts for all his work today keeping us all UpToDate on running points) and set up the Results giving.
Congrats to Rob, Steve & Mike for taking up the top three, Thruppy for first Grand Master, Mark for 1st Homebuilt, Ken for 1st Woodie, and Crewe for 1st Older boat.
Mega thanks to everyone for making the effort to support our event.
Dig out or steal a DF65 and come join us again on Monday for some more fun.
Happy Sailing Everyone, RO, Graham
