8/8/20
Mr Stein Won the TRSC Points day today, Not bad on her 2nd outing
I am extremely happy with alterations to stern and chine. Differently the fastest Frankenstein design so far...
She had both upwind and downwind speed to burn and matched the V10, Britpop and Alternatives in most conditions
The most noticeable differences is she now tracks straight and does not bear off in the waves or when crossing stern wakes like Frank 2 did.
Maybe a little more friction when fast tacking? And yet to test her high pointing mode against a Mist. But tracks upwind on her own.
The increased downwind performance is very, very interesting as the downwind shape has not changed much , a bit of investigation required there ;)
A few more sessions, A few more photos and back to the drawing board to play around with the Frankenstein Four ????
This weeks project is to replace the big 3d printer controller boards so the printer will be ready to print Frank MK 4 soon ???
(and get Mr Stein measured too)
Its the weekend so its time to go Sailing
Saturday Tauranga Fun IOM Sailing Day :)
Sunday Papamoa DF65's
27th I just pushed Mr Stein launch date back by a couple more days. Hull was to soft for my liking. (nice and light...)
Weight only 550g bare, so I think there is room for another layer of cloth on the outside to make me happier.
Mr Stein getting another thin layer of cloth today
Currently in the warm shed drying.
29/7/20
Frankenstein Mk4 will be a female mold !!!!
It might take twice as long to 3d print
but worth is if I can minimize this filler (weight) stage.
The extra layer of glass on top and bottom has made Mr Stein
bullet proof but the weight has gone up accordingly...
(much more weight efficient to put all layers on at the same time)
A thick layer of filler now drying on the hull today.
Temperatures low so might take 24 hours to harded up to sand..
Time to head off with Frank Mk2 for a Wednesday after session :)
Hope you can join us...
4/8/20
I can't wait to see the differencein buoyancy with this small stern design... CS did something similar a few year back and it worked well ...
Will the wind-age difference between
the bow vs stern be a factor in a blow ?
Give it and week
and I guess we will find out...
