The boys came out to play today at The Bus Stop.
15 boats on the start line today, a very impressive turnout indeed. The breeze was light to moderate generally from the West. It started from SW and as the afternoon moved on so it swung.
The course was set by Pete 197 today to give Nigel 168 a break. The wind swing made us move the start to provide a better beat. When the breeze was up, the starts were hot. It was good to see reasonable behaviour at the boat end.
The new skippers had a ball in the stronger breeze and it's great seeing the improvement in their boat handling. The handicapping seemed about right, as I saw them have a couple of wins.
The RTW's were a bit more organised today as Kent 717 fine tuned his RO management. Pat 39 and Peter 248 had good wins in the first two conventional races. The third race however, was a different story. This was unidirectional . The majority of the fleet went clockwise and were led by Graeme 230. Going the other way was a small group led by Nigel 168. As the race unfolded, it was obvious that there was going to be a very close finish Graeme and Nigel neck in neck. In the end Nigel sneaked home by a couple of boat lengths. The crowd on the bank went ballistic. Well done Nigel 168.
