Early 7am Saturday I woke to rain on the roof of the truck, dam. I hit the road south to Porirua.

By the time I got there at 7.30 the rain had cleared and had a couple of hours sightseeing around some old places I had been as a very young child and first Radio NZ site I saw as a broadcasting cadet..

9.30am the Wellington crew rolled in. All keen, even with the rain showers that had started back up again.

Ed rowed out and set up a course while the rest of us built some shelter (which we never used all day)

Chris launched his boat then the worst scenario happened. Electrical failure in a perfectly balanced upwind setting heading off and out of sight towards Plimiton. Luckily a few wind change and his boat tacked three times, before headed to the west to the shore on our side of the harbour. Click here for Chris's Video of us surviving

We launched on the pontoon and sailed around the corner into a fantastic surfing upwind downwind course. A morning/afternoon of very top end of B surfing conditions. Defiantly a great place for a contest at high time midday with a patrol boat which can move a lot faster than a one metre

Saturday evening and now at Camp Elsdon still in Porirua. I’m trying to get everything dry after two wet days of sailing and living in this small Van.

Tomorrow 10am Whitby – IOM and all classes run by me.

Then I rush home Monday to try and make 1pm DF65 Monday out at the Tauranga Lakes.

A four day sailing weekend hopefully.

Send us your weekend report.
