The Spring breezes have settled in and racing was excellent at The Bus Stop
Ten race hungry skippers turned up for today's session. A very nice Westerly greeted us and that stiffened somewhat during the afternoon.
We raced a figure 8 course today that gave a biased first beat, with with a short quick downwind followed by a sometimes very fast reach. It was very important to be in a good position at the top mark. However, getting there was a bit of a mystery as the wind was swinging about 30 degrees either side of west. As normal with a bit of breeze, there was a nice chop to deal with that made tacking a little difficult at times.
Nigel 168 was hard to peg today and as the afternoon progressed, so did he.
Merv 188 on the other hand had some techo issues on board 188 and had to haul her out of the water. In the meantime Pete 179 had to leave early so Merv chartered 179 and got back into racing. He commented that he found 179 to be slippery and said he almost won a race. Perhaps he needs to grease up 188 and check the 'Nut on the tiller'?
My roving reporter said the RTW's were a 'no contest', all three won by Nigel 168.
A top day's fun racing our little DF65's in the nice breeze. Bring on more of those breezy conditions.
