A+'s were swarming at The Bus Stop.

I arrived at the lake to find a swarm of A+'s sailing around. Our policy is A rigs and smaller, but RO Nigel 168 invited sailors to bring their big rig on Monday next week to get some practice on the lake for the upcoming NZ Champs to be sailed here at Easter. Somehow Monday turned into today, those skippers are keen.

Nigel 168 set a course and the A+ boats went away on the first gun, with A's starting a minute later. That worked well as the A+ had a couple of extra legs in their race.

It was nice seeing the A+ boys tuning and chatting among themselves with the aim of learning settings and how best to sail the bigger rig. We had six A+ and six A rigs so they were nice little fleets.

You will see some of the new coloured hulls in the photos. Of particular note is Pink Panther, Peter 448's new all pink beast. There were a number of gender type comments at first sight, which is only natural amongst a bunch of yachties.

Three RTW's today for each class. A+ went to Garry 54 two wins and Pat 39 the other and in the A's, Pete 179 took the first one and Clive 998 sailed brilliantly to take the other two.

A+ rigs are welcome up to the NZ Champs, so if you want to try our lake out with the bigger sail, then you are welcome. Start 1:00pm sharp Monday and Thursday.

If interest increases Nigel may run a day down at The Jetty on the actual course area. Get organised and get the numbers up and it will happen.

Enjoy the photos.
