Cold day and a new boat at The Bus Stop.

The start of some nasty weather greeted us today. NE and very gusty and cold. That's the norm from that direction, but it didn't deter the eleven skipper who turned up appropriately dressed and ready to race.

Nigel 168 set the course and we were into it. Number 8 and 9 buoys were a test as they were in the lee of the land. After a few races, skippers worked out a way to manage 8 & 9 and faces were smiling once more.

Racing was great today, it was interesting, tricky, and more. Well done guys for sticking to it and making those boat handling adjustments as the squalls went through. Trevor 22 was starting at 30 seconds and that made us go to try and catch him, there were a lot of us who didn't!

RTW's today were torrid affairs, one win each to Garry 54 and Rob 501, Well done lads.

You will have read in our post last week that we were making a change to how we operate on race days. In the photos you will see a photo of one of my Transmitters. We now ask sailors to attach a tag that has contact details in case of an emergency situation rising. One side has the skipper's name and on the other is the name and phone number of a person we can contact should an emergency arise.

We are providing the tags free to sailors who regularly sail in our group. If you need more than one, then there is a charge of $1.00 per tag for those extras. If you haven't got a tag, please see Pete 179 or Nigel 168 on race day and we will source a tag for you.

Lastly it was great to see John launch 137 today. There has been some drama getting it here as it came from legendary skipper Kerrin of New Plymouth Radio Control Yacht Club. It was coming by car, but road closures due to bad weather stopped that. A second attempt was made by another couple from Tauranga who were taking their caravan to New Plymouth. That went ok, but the couple decided a detour to Hastings would be a good idea before returning. That was ok, but John was thinking of the mileage it was doing as it was low mileage when he bought it. A good story of good things comes to those who wait. John is very impressed with how it goes.

A great day all round racing our hearts off today.

Enjoy the photos
