Hi Mini 40 skippers and supporters,

I have put together this list of interested people, to get some feedback on all things radio multihull, particularly here in NZ.

Firstly, reminding everyone of the two planned regattas for later in the year.

A four day regatta in Auckland ....Wattle Farm ...Thurs 19th Oct.-Sun 22nd Oct. hosted by NMMS

2

A four day regatta in Christchurch ...Pegasus...Thurs 9th Nov-Sun 12 Nov.

hosted by PRSC.

We have had 2 successful prior events,Mangawhai 2021 and last year at Pegasus.

Much was learned by everyone, re. courses, fleet sizes, boat requirements etc

We welcome any thoughts and particularly at this early stage, an indication of your intention to enter or attend as an interested spectator either or both of the above events.

At this point as a group we have no official structure or representative group, should we set up an NCA? ..national class association..if we did it would affiliate to the NZRYA....New Zealand Radio Yacht Association and have the benefit of insurance, official national website presence and we would take our place amongst all other radio classes in NZ.

You will note that the above regattas are hosted by established radio yacht clubs. One benefit I'm acutely aware of is that it would make it much easier through the NZRYA for club committees to OK regattas on their water.

The NCA would be an ideal group to discuss regatta format, updating the Mini 40 rules, measurement issues, register of boats etc..etc.

If there is support for NCA then lets get it well established before Auckland.

At this stage the cost for most would be $5 per annum ...$15 if you are not already a member of NZRYA.

Whatever,I would like to begin a register of all model Multis in NZ..

Please send to this  email   bruceedgar246 at gmail.com  details of any boats you have.....

Owners name, design, class, main boat colour, sail number, number of rigs, boat name, photo if possible.

People say there is a surprising number of boats hidden away in sheds etc.

Lets see what comes out of the woodwork!!!

To end,I would appreciate any email addresses of interested people I have not been able to track down for the current Mini 40 group.

for eg. craig dawsons email????

Cheers,

Bruce Edgar
