3rd December DF95 South Australia Champs

We got to Mawson Lakes in Adelaide at 8am. The lake was glass. We helped set up the triple sized gazebo which take six people to errect tied down by 6 x 40 litre water bottles. A quick check scrutinare of yacht and batteries and I was on the lake testing out Bruce's DF95. A waffle of wind until 10am. Briefing. And by 10.30am we had enough to start. HMS :) Heat 2 I got a good start and built on the lead the whole race. 1st, great start :) Next a race, start not so good but managed to work through fleet and took the leaf in the last metre before the finish. Race 3, 2nd, got pasted by a shift coming into the finish. Race four, coming second into the finish, got geedy and went for the win and did not cover boats behind. More wind came in from the right on the last leg and lost four places coming into the finish, bugger. R5 solid race battling it out up front and 2nd, keeper. Disaster R6 bug piece of slim weed first on windward, rudder at 45 degree at times to sail upwind, super luck managed 8th to stay just stay in A fleet. R7 i missed seeing a couple of bargers and got my bow hooked downwards in the last 3 second before gun and I ended to leeward of two boats loosing 20 seconds. I was not able to work through pack as the windbstrrenght was up and it was now brawn (top a rig) sailing now and not the same amount of passing lanes I had this morning. Great racing but could only pull a 7th which ment I was now 1st equal, last race winner takes all ! Both myself and myself and df688 Simon got good starts. Simon lead around the top mark with a bit of a 15 second lead chased my me and one other. I jagged a downwind gust and followed Simon around bottom mark a lot closer. Top mark and I just squeezed inside. A downwind battle pursued and the wind moved 90 degrees so we were now reaching. Simon was able to get the last gust before the bottom mark and just managed to get the inside. Simon tacked straight away aiming straight at the bottom of the finish body, I had to go the other way and try.. but no...

A well run prize giving.

Local council gave a quick speech and presented meddlesome.
