2026 TRSC Club Championships at The Bus Stop
Labour Day 2026 was the day of the Club Championship Regatta. Fifteen starters lined up after a briefing from RO Nigel 168. A simple gate at both ends of the course gave skippers some challenges during the low wind times which normally popped up some time in each race.
Competition was fierce for the top places and a few skippers put their hand up for the champion sailor on a regular basis. No clear winner was showing, but everyone was having a good time trying. The breeze was mainly west and reasonably steady, however there were some good lifts for those who were fortunate to position themselves to take them.
Visitors from Papamoa and Matata were very welcome. Some of our new skippers sailed their first championship series and all sailed very well. The word championship often frightens some skippers, but not these guys.
The disappointment of the day was my inability to have the results ready in a timely fashion,
so sadly we could not hold our usual lakeside prizegiving.
Once home it took me less than 5 minutes to sort it out,
but in the heat of the pressure I'm sorry I failed you all.
The results are attached in the photos so you can analyse your own performance.
Here is the real deal:
2026 Champion John Roundtree
2nd Garry Dixon
3rd Kent Pearson
Great Grand Master 80+ John Roundtree
Grand Master 75+ Peter Stacey
Master 70+ Kent Pearson
We want to host a proper prize giving and invite the prize winners to come to The Bus Stop, sail with us and have the ceremony at 3:00pm on next Thursday 29 Oct (This Thursday coming).
Finally, thank you to all the sailors who came to race the series, you were a fantastic fleet of competitors.
See you next year and enjoy the photos.
