Hello Sailors!
I took a walk around the Mount, and the wind in Pilot Bay was coming from the southwest or west at B rig strength – a real "stay at home and boat build" kind of day. Despite the conditions, I decided to head out and sail.
The experience was mixed, with Dennis and Colin opting for A rigs, while John and I started with B rigs. Graham and Dene showed up with A rigs, convincing us B riggers to switch. As my photos show, the gusts were quite unpredictable, leading to some challenging starts and dramatic wipeouts downwind.
Nevertheless, we had competitive starts and intense beats to the top mark, with the course remaining stable in direction. The highlight was a thrilling bridge-to-bus stop race, which added a fun twist to the afternoon and was ultimately won by Graham.
A big thanks to the members who set up the starting and finishing gear. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Ken
