Summer was at The Bus Stop today.
Ten elderly gents came out to warm up in the sun and do some DF65 racing on the lake.
Before I get into the details, we have a big shout out to Tauranga City Council who have provided us with a safe entry and exit to launch our boats. Nigel 168 happened to be at the lake on the day they arrived. He was able to give guidance to the guys who turned up to do the job and the final product is exactly what we asked for. Not only did they do the ramp, but they also water blasted the whole of the timber boardwalk. Well done TCC.
The breeze was very patchy, but that only added to the complexity of the racing. Lester 17 was again in the groove notching up a number of good wins.
The nature of the breeze combined with the direction through the course showed up one or two hot spots for collisions. Unfortunately these issues happen on the furthest away marks. Eyesight, wind strength, and boat handling make those things difficult. Nobody wants to go wider than they have to and that often creates mayhem. So as Cyndy once said, be kind.
Heaps of races today with plenty of winners. The RTW's were hard fought affairs and were won by Gary 54, Pete197 and Pat 239.
Some good photos today with the good sunny light.
