I turned up to the Lakes Bus Stop just before 1pm.

Mike and Graham were already fetching the Dinghy and there were already DF65's on the water.

We all set up our staging area and altered to the course to suit the days conditions. Top of A rig straight down the lake again, perfect :)

It is amazing to see how fast newbies adapt in just a couple of months. It only seems a few weeks ago they were working out how to tack upwind.

(i am going to have to stop calling everyone newbies as some are now beating me ... :)

We had several 3 and 4 lap races with everyone having places changing in every race.

Mid session we pulled the boats out for a quick rules session.

There are allot of sailing rules, however if you just focus on Port/Starboard, Windward/Leeward and Buoy Room you can get around at any race track.

Today we talked about

No smashing in at the start mark or the bottom marks. (go around the outside)

You do not have to hit another boat to ask them to do a 360 turn (and keep turning until they have not gained advantage).

Fundamental rules of sailing say avoid collisions

If you hook your bow under someones stern, they are generally stuck until you steer down and release there stern. (there maybe multiple boat locked up)

3.45pm the temperature crashed, We packed up and all headed home.

hope to see you 1pm Thursday at the Tauranga Lakes Bus Stop
