Quick and easy to prepare, this dish is perfect for a weeknight dinner or impressing guests at your next gathering.
1 lb extra-large shrimp (21–30 count per pound), peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1½ teaspoons paprika
⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, diced into 1-tablespoon pieces
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley (optional)
1 medium head of garlic, minced (about ¼ cup)
Prepare the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. In a bowl, toss the shrimp with flour, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
Sauté the Garlic: In a large 12-inch non-stick skillet, melt the butter with olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.
Cook the Shrimp: Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2 minutes on the first side until pinkish, then flip the shrimp and cook for an additional 2 minutes on the other side until just cooked through.
Finish the Dish: Remove the skillet from heat. Toss the shrimp with fresh lemon juice and garnish with minced parsley, if desired.
Serve: Serve the garlic shrimp immediately, topped with the flavorful garlic butter sauce from the pan.
