Crockpot Angel Chicken
Crockpot Angel Chicken
Crockpot Angel Chicken is a rich and creamy slow-cooked dish featuring tender chicken breasts enveloped in a luscious sauce made from cream cheese, cream of chicken soup, butter, and Italian seasoning. The name "Angel Chicken" reflects the lightness of the dish, despite its indulgent flavors. It's a hands-off meal that allows the slow cooker to do all the work, resulting in a comforting dinner that's both easy to prepare and delicious.
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 (0.7 oz) packet dry Italian dressing mix
1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup (preferably unsalted)
4 oz cream cheese, softened
3 tablespoons butter, softened
¾ cup chicken broth or white wine
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 pound angel hair pasta (for serving)
Optional: Fresh parsley or chives for garnish
Prepare the Sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine the cream cheese, butter, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth (or white wine), and the dry Italian dressing mix. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
Assemble in Crockpot: Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker. Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken, ensuring the pieces are well-coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours, or until the chicken is tender and fully cooked. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (74°C).
Prepare Pasta: About 30 minutes before serving, cook the angel hair pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Combine and Serve: Once the chicken is cooked, shred it using two forks and stir it into the sauce. Serve the creamy chicken mixture over the cooked angel hair pasta. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or chives, if desired.
