Full Recipe:
For the Brownie Layer:
1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup (35 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup (65 g) all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
For the Cookie Layer:
1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup (100 g) brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups (160 g) all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup (175 g) chocolate chips
Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Prepare Brownie Layer: In a medium bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until smooth. Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan.
Prepare Cookie Layer: In a separate bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Add flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing until combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
Assemble and Bake: Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie layer and gently spread to cover most of the surface (it doesn’t need to be perfect). Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the cookie layer is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are okay).
Cool and Serve: Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Serve and enjoy!
