Full Recipe:
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 lb fresh mussels, cleaned and debearded
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup chicken broth
Juice of 1 lemon
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Cooked pasta or crusty bread, for serving
Sauté the Garlic: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
Prepare the Mussels: In the same skillet, add the cleaned mussels and chicken broth. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes until the mussels open. Discard any mussels that do not open.
Make the Creamy Sauce: Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream, lemon juice, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 2–3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
Combine and Heat: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, stirring gently to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until everything is heated through.
Serve: Transfer the seafood and sauce to serving plates. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with cooked pasta or crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
