These White Cheddar & Spinach Chicken Burgers offer a healthier twist on the classic burger, combining lean ground chicken with the rich flavors of sharp white cheddar and the freshness of spinach. The addition of Dijon mustard and onion powder enhances the taste, while the melted cheese keeps the patties juicy. Perfect for weeknight dinners or casual gatherings, these burgers are both nutritious and satisfying.
Ingredients:
1 lb ground chicken
1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped
1 cup shredded sharp white cheddar cheese
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
4 burger buns
Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, mayonnaise or aioli
Directions:
Prepare the Burger Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are well incorporated. Be careful not to overmix to maintain a tender texture.
Shape the Patties:
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty approximately ½ inch thick. If the mixture is sticky, lightly oil your hands to make shaping easier.
Cook the Burgers:
Heat olive oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 5–6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Avoid pressing down on the patties to retain their juiciness.
Assemble and Serve:
Toast the burger buns lightly. Place each patty on a bun and add desired toppings such as lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, and a spread of mayonnaise or aioli. Serve immediately and enjoy!
