Chicken Shawarma with Garlic Sauce is a flavorful Middle Eastern dish featuring marinated chicken cooked to perfection with a blend of aromatic spices. Ingredients:
For the Chicken Shawarma:
2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground paprika
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Juice of 1 lemon
3 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Garlic Sauce:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Salt, to taste
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne (if using), lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Add chicken thighs and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5-7 minutes per side until cooked through and slightly charred. Remove and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.
To make garlic sauce, whisk together mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, and salt until smooth.
Serve sliced chicken shawarma with garlic sauce, in pita bread, over rice, or with your favorite sides.
