This Sushi Bake is a fusion of Japanese sushi flavors, baked into a comforting casserole. It combines spicy tuna and creamy crab layered over seasoned sushi rice, then baked to perfection. Perfect for gatherings or a cozy meal at home, this dish offers a delightful twist on traditional sushi.
Ingredients:
2 cups sushi rice
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 pound sushi-grade tuna, diced
1/2 pound imitation crab meat, shredded
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon chopped green onions
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 sheet nori (seaweed), cut into strips
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cook the sushi rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl until dissolved, then fold this mixture into the cooked rice.
In a bowl, combine the diced tuna with sriracha sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, and half of the green onions.
In another bowl, mix the shredded crab meat with mayonnaise until well combined.
In a baking dish, spread the seasoned sushi rice evenly at the bottom.
Layer the spicy tuna mixture over the rice, followed by the creamy crab mixture.
Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
Garnish with the remaining green onions and nori strips before serving.
