This dish is perfect for busy weeknights, as it’s cooked all in one pan, minimizing cleanup while delivering big on flavor. The creamy Parmesan sauce adds a comforting richness that complements the shrimp perfectly, making it a family-friendly favorite.
Ingredients:
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup orzo pasta
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
In a large skillet or pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
In the same pan, add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
Stir in the orzo pasta and cook for 1-2 minutes, allowing it to toast slightly.
Add chicken broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cover and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and the liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
Return the cooked shrimp to the pan, stirring to combine. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately.
