2 chicken breasts, boneless & skinless
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
⅓ cup honey
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 cups elbow macaroni (or cavatappi)
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp cracked black pepper
18 tbsp flour
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp red pepper flakes
½ tsp salt
Vegetable oil (for cooking)
2 tbsp butter
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup mozzarella cheese
2 cups whole milk
Directions
Prepare the chicken: In a bowl, coat chicken pieces with flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes. Heat oil in a skillet and fry chicken until golden and cooked through. Set aside.
Make the honey-pepper glaze: In a small saucepan, mix honey and soy sauce; gently heat to create a glaze. Toss the cooked chicken in this mixture until well coated.
Cook the pasta: Boil macaroni until al dente, drain, and set aside.
Build the mac and cheese base: In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add heavy cream, buttermilk, and whole milk; stir in cheddar and mozzarella until melted and smooth. Season to taste.
