1½ lb ground beef (or chicken)
1 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 egg, beaten
Salt & pepper to taste
Marsala Mushroom Gravy:
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
1 Tbsp butter or oil
½ cup Marsala wine
1 cup beef or chicken broth
1 Tbsp flour (optional, for thickening)
Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C).
In a bowl, combine beef (or chicken), breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, egg, salt, and pepper.
Shape into a loaf and place in a lightly greased baking dish.
Bake for 45–60 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160 °F (71 °C).
While baking, sauté mushrooms in butter until golden.
Add Marsala wine and simmer to reduce slightly.
Stir in broth and simmer 5 minutes; add flour if thicker gravy is desired.
