– 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
– 2 cups coarsely crushed pretzels
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 2 large eggs
– 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon onion powder
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
– ½ cup milk
– Mustard–Cheddar Sauce Ingredients:
– ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
– ½ cup milk
– 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
– 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
– Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 °F (200 °C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Set up a breading station:
Bowl 1: flour
Bowl 2: eggs mixed with Dijon mustard
Bowl 3: crushed pretzels
Coat each chicken breast: dredge in flour, dip in egg mixture, then press into pretzel crumbs.
Arrange coated chicken on the baking sheet. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165 °F (75 °C) and crust is golden brown.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan over medium heat, combine ½ cup milk, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until warm. Add ½ cup cheddar cheese gradually, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat.
Let chicken rest for a few minutes after baking. Serve drizzled with the mustard-cheddar sauce.
