Biscuits and Gravy Casserole is a comforting, hearty dish that transforms the classic Southern breakfast into a convenient, make-ahead casserole. Combining flaky biscuits, savory sausage, creamy eggs, and rich gravy, this dish offers a deliciously satisfying meal perfect for brunches, holidays, or family gatherings. Its blend of flavors and textures makes it a crowd-pleaser that's both easy to prepare and delightful to serve.
Ingredients:
1 (10 oz) can refrigerated biscuit dough (e.g., Pillsbury Grands!)
1 lb bulk pork sausage
1½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
6 large eggs
½ cup milk
Salt and ground black pepper, to taste
1½ cups cold water
1 (1.5 oz) package pork gravy mix
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
Prepare the biscuit base: Line the bottom of the prepared baking dish with biscuit dough.
Cook the sausage: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook and stir the sausage until browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard any excess grease. Scatter the cooked sausage over the biscuit layer and top with 1 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese.
Prepare the egg mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined. Pour this mixture evenly over the cheese layer.
Make the gravy: In a saucepan, mix the gravy mix with cold water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer until the gravy thickens, about 1 to 2 minutes. Pour the prepared gravy over the egg layer.
Add the final cheese layer: Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of shredded Cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole.
Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake until the eggs are set and the cheese is bubbling, about 30 minutes.
Serve:Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
