This graceful and simple Greek treat brings together creamy strained Greek yogurt, luscious honey, crunchy walnuts, and a hint of cinnamon in just minutes. Known as Yiaourti me Meli, it's a traditional, no-bake delight that serves beautifully as a snack, light dessert, or nourishing start to the day—where only the best-quality ingredients truly shine.
2 ½ cups strained Greek yogurt (thick, creamy, and richer in flavor)
½ cup honey (preferably high-quality, less-watery varieties like thyme honey)
1 cup walnuts (use fresh; toasting is optional for extra depth)
A sprinkle of ground cinnamon (to taste)
Optional: ¾ tsp vanilla extract (for a subtle aromatic twist)
(Optional) Preheat oven to 180 °C (350 °F). Toast walnuts on a baking sheet for 7–8 minutes until lightly golden and fragrant—then let cool.
Stir together the Greek yogurt and vanilla extract (if using), then distribute into 6–7 serving bowls.
Toss the cooled walnuts with honey until well coated. Spoon this mixture atop the yogurt.
Finish with a delicate sprinkle of cinnamon. Serve immediately or chill briefly before enjoying.
