For the Rolls:
16–19 oz store-bought pizza dough
8 mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut into 1-inch pieces (or substitute 32 Land O Lakes Creamy Italian Blend Cheese Cubes)
½ tbsp milk or 1 egg (for brushing)
Flaky sea salt (optional)
For the Garlic Herb Butter:
4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
¼ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
2 small cloves garlic, minced (or 1 large clove)
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1 tbsp chopped basil
Salt & pepper, to taste
To Serve:
1 slice cheese (mozzarella, provolone, cheddar—for decorative “laces”)
Warm marinara sauce
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Divide dough into 32 pieces and flatten each into a small rectangle. Place a piece of cheese in the center, then seal into a ball.
Arrange dough balls seam-side down into a football shape on the baking sheet, or any shape you desire.
Brush with milk or egg, sprinkle with flaky salt if using, and bake for 18 minutes. Then broil for 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
