This Sheet Pan BBQ Tofu from The Kitchn delivers bold flavor, crispy jagged edges, and effortless cooking—all on a single pan. With a smoky dry rub and sticky BBQ sauce, this vegan, gluten‑free dinner is perfect for meal prep or weeknight cooking. The extra‑firm tofu absorbs the spice and roasts to crunchy perfection, making it a satisfying plant‑based main. Serve with fresh veggies or grain bowls—or enjoy straight from the pan. It makes four servings and takes under an hour from prep to table.
14 oz extra‑firm tofu, pressed and torn into bite‑sized pieces
1 ½ Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp chili powder
1 ½ tsp paprika
¼ tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp kosher salt
¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
¼ cup BBQ sauce
Preheat oven to 425 °F and line a baking sheet with parchment or a silicone mat.
Press tofu to remove excess moisture, then tear into pieces for crisp edges.
In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil and all dry rub spices into a paste.
Add tofu to the spice mixture and toss until every piece is coated.
Arrange tofu in a single layer on the sheet—use two pans if needed to avoid overcrowding.
Bake for ~30 minutes, flipping every ~10 minutes for even browning and crispiness.
Remove from oven and drizzle BBQ sauce over tofu. Toss gently to coat.
Return to oven for 5 more minutes until sauce is sticky and caramelized.
Serve hot—great on its own, over rice or grains, or tossed with roasted vegetables.
