The Gouldian Finch (Chloebia gouldiae), also known as Gould's Finch or the Rainbow Finch, is a colorful passerine bird related to zebra finch that is native to Australia.
The Gouldian finch was described by British ornithologist John Gould in 1844 as Amadina gouldiae (now as Chloebia gouldiae), in honour of his deceased wife Elizabeth Gould.
Gouldian finches are small, measuring between 5.5 to 6 inches (14 to 15 centimeters) in length, and weighing around 0.5 ounces (14 grams). The wingspan of a Gouldian finch typically ranges from 10 to 11 inches (26 to 29 centimeters).
The markings on both sexes are highly colored and include red, yellow, green, and black. The females are typically less colorful. The male's purple chest and the female's paler mauve chest are two of the main differences between the sexes. They can have yellow, black, or red heads. Previously thought to be three distinct species, finches are actually color variations of a single species found in the wild. Additionally, mutations in body and breast color (blue, yellow, and silver instead of a green back) have been produced by selective breeding.
The Gouldian finch can fly over vast savannas quickly, nimbly, and efficiently. It can travel great distances every day to get to water sources. Although this bird cannot swim, they run the risk of dying if they fall into the water. They skim the water's surface or land at its borders to drink. The Gouldian finch possessed a strong spatial memory for feeding grounds and water holes, as well as excellent color vision.
All species of estrildid finches in Rapunzel's universe spew a large number of bright green seeds with coated wind from their mouths toward the opponent at a high speed, striking the target two to five times per use.

The Gouldian finch eats seeds, just like other fake finches. Every day, they consume as much as 30% of their body weight. Gouldian finches primarily consume ripe and semi-ripe sorghum grass seeds throughout the nesting season. They mostly search for seeds on the ground during the dry season. They eat a lot of spinifex grass seed (Triodia species) during the rainy season. Although Gouldians have been observed consuming six distinct types of grass seed thus far, scientists have not yet discovered any proof that they also consume insects.
Hawks and eagles, quolls, foxes, dingos, feral cats, taipans, pythons, frilled lizards, sharks, bats, and crocodiles are the primary predators of Gouldian finches. This species is inedible to both foreigners (Europeans and Asians) and Aboriginal Australians.
In aviculture, Gouldian finches are a common species due to their eye-catching colors and little maintenance needs. Other grass finch species and some other placid bird species, such parrot finches and waxbills, get along nicely with Gouldian finches.
Although the Gouldian finches are generally characterized as gregarious, submissive, and kind birds, they are not usually amiable toward people. They prefer the companionship of other finches and are not suitable for handling. Despite their love of flocking, they are generally shy and easily agitated by people.

In northern Australia, Gouldian finches live in open tropical savanna forests, favoring locations close to water supplies such as waterholes and rocky hills with smooth-barked gums. Especially during the breeding season, they are usually found between two and four kilometers from these water sources. Along with a variety of annual and perennial grasses, such as cockatoo grass and spear grass, their habitat also consists of grassy understories. Gouldian finches were sold all over the world before the Australian government banned the sale of Australian fauna, which led to the holding of healthy captive breeding populations in numerous nations.

Alternatively, survivors must steal the Gouldian finch's egg in order to tame it. These fake finches are domesticated as soon as they hatch since the survivor is always within 12 radii of the hatching egg. If a finch isn't already tamed, you can tame it with seeds, fruits, beans, nuts, and insects, all of which can be found in many different places.
