"All things in this world have souls. Not just creatures and plants. [...] The souls of things are equipped with the power to help their users by nature. Our powers draw on that, boosting it with our own souls, to be able to unleash a greater power."
― Kūgo Ginjō to Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach)
Top: Many souls from the resting grounds seek to ascend to heaven or reincarnate.
Bottom: A lavender symbol consists of a dull lavender-colored eight-lined wheel on the interior with one circle on the exterior representing ectoplasm and a sad-shaped eye that remains sad and mysterious.
Spirit (Tagalog: espiritu/diwa/kaluluwa; Hawaiia: ʻuhane; Maori 精神 "wairua"; Japanese: 精霊 "Seirei"; Emoji:👻) is an inorganic element that is commonly found in nature and are usually connected to fear, the dark and the afterlife.
Animakinesis (also known as Telekinesis, or Soulakinesis) is the superpower to move, control, or manipulate matter using only the mind, and to perceive, control, alter, or interact with souls and spiritual essence. It’s one of the deepest and most mystical abilities in supernatural lore — often tied to life, death, reincarnation, and the afterlife.
Animakinesis is from Latin:
“Anima” = soul, breath, life
“Kinesis” = movement or control
Soul Manipulation means the power to sense, extract, transfer, or influence the soul — the core essence of life and consciousness.
A user of this ability is often called a Soulbinder, Spirit Weaver, or Animancer.

The soul is the purported immaterial aspect or essence of a living being. It is typically believed to be immortal and to exist apart from the material world. The three main theories that describe the relationship between the soul and the body are interactionism, parallelism, and epiphenomenalism. Anthropologists and psychologists have found that most humans are naturally inclined to believe in the existence of the soul and that they have interculturally distinguished between souls and bodies.
In religion and philosophy, spirit is the vital principle or animating essence within humans or, in some views, all living things. Although views of spirit vary between different belief systems, when spirit is contrasted with the soul, the former is often seen as a basic natural force, principle or substance, whereas the latter is used to describe the organized structure of an individual being's consciousness, in humans to include their personality. Spirit as a substance may also be contrasted with matter, where it is usually seen as more subtle
They usually live in abandoned houses, cemeteries, funeral places and uninhabited dark places such as caves. Also, Spirit-type tend to be extremely naughty, pranking humans just to see their faces and reactions. Curiously, the more scared a human is, the more power the Spirit will have to prank with it. At worst, some Spirit-type may have relatively murderous behaviors as well causing other incidents.
Soul Manipulation represents:
🕊️ Life and death — control over existence itself.
💫 Spiritual awareness — understanding the essence of being.
⚖️ Balance — between purity and corruption, life and afterlife.
💀 Divinity or godhood — only beings beyond mortality usually wield it.
It symbolizes the ultimate connection between body, mind, and spirit.
When a Spirit-type weapon strikes, it will apply to release a burst of purplish or bluish white ectoplasm into the wound, the effect shown will be the one which is most effective on that part of the creature.

Depending on mastery, a Animakinetic can perform extraordinary spiritual feats:
Soul Perception / Awareness: See, sense, or hear souls — detecting life energy, spiritual presences, or purity/evil within beings.
Soul Extraction / Separation: Remove or displace a person’s soul from their body (often rendering them unconscious or dead).
Soul Healing / Restoration: Repair or restore damaged souls, curing spiritual or emotional wounds.
Soul Absorption: Draw power, knowledge, or memories from absorbed souls.
Soul Empowerment: Enhance strength or abilities using one’s own or others’ spiritual essence.
Soul Protection: Shield one’s own soul or others from possession, corruption, or damage.
Reincarnation / Resurrection: Return souls to life or reincarnate them into new forms or vessels.
Possession / Spiritual Control: Enter or manipulate another being’s soul or consciousness.
Astral Projection: Separate one’s soul from the body to travel spiritually across realms.
Soul Binding / Contracts: Create pacts or fusions between souls — often seen in magic, curses, or guardian-bond rituals.

Scrappy - The skill from a creature can hit Spirit-type creature with Normal- and Combat-type moves. It is also unaffected by Intimidate.
Cursed Body - May disable a move that has dealt damage to the creature.
Itself - Ghosts can only touch one another, which makes them vulnerable to one another. It is also believed that the strongest spirit—in this case, the desire to win—wins.
Arcane✨ - Because some people are afraid of ghosts and fears have an impact on the mind, they are powerful against the Arcane Element.

Dark🌑 - In some belief systems, ghosts who live evil lives and refuse to enter the afterlife are said to transform into demons, and in some mythologies, demons are feared and are also rumored to eat lost souls. As a result, they are weak against the Dark Element.
Light🔆 - Due to the fact that light stands for the good and blessed and that it is believed that evil spirits are repelled by light, the Light and Aether Elements are the main forces against Spirit.

Normal (unofficial) - They're immune to normal weapons (except of element imbued weapons and tools) because spirits are incorporeal beings and thus can't be hit normally. This is also the reason why the Normal or Combat-type is immune to them, because a mortal and a ghost can't hurt each other.
