The Bokunagahi (Kaiwhekea katiki; Maori Kanji: カイフェケア カチキ; Japanese: 墨蛇 "Bokuhebi"; lit. "squid eater of the carved figures") is the extinct species of plesiosaur found in New Zealand during Late Cretaceous period.
Etymology
Kaiwhekea katiki is a Maori words for "carved figures of squid eater", due to eating mostly squids and belemnites. The bokunagahi is the anglicization word from Japanese: 墨魚 (Bokugyo) and Maori: nakahi, which means "squid-snake".
Physical Appearance
The plesiosaur bokunagahi is a medium-sized carnivore with a long, flexible neck that ends in a rounded, hydrodynamic skull. Using its powerful tail as a rudder in addition to its four wide flippers, Kaiwhekea can move fast through the water. In No Way to Seaway, Bokunagahi is one of the smaller aquatic characters, but its speed and agility more than make up for its little stature.
Abilities
This is demonstrated by the morphology of the teeth, which are highly numerous and small in comparison to other plesiosaurs. This adaptation is likely to have aided Kaiwhekea in catching small, swiftly moving prey like squid.
Ecology
This is revealed by the shape of the teeth which are very small when compared to other plesiosaurs, as well as being very numerous, an adaptation that is thought to have helped Kaiwhekea catch small fast moving prey like squid, hence the meaning of its name, ‘squid eater’.

Distribution and Habitat
It lived around the middle Maastrichtian. The single known specimen, found in the Katiki Formation near Shag Point on the coast of Otago, is nearly complete, and is on display at the Otago Museum in Dunedin, New Zealand
Movement Pattern: None
Individual Type: Solo
Population Trend: Unspecific
Population: 0
Locomotion: Aquatic
Habitat: All
Earth: Aotearoa
Tamed
Since the survivor is always within 8 radius of the egg sac hatching, all plesiosaurs are instantly domesticated when they emerge from an egg sac. A whip, fish flesh, mollusk meat, or fish eggs can all be used to tame a plesiosaur if it isn't already trained when it is born.
Lore
No Way to Seaway - 66,000,000,000 BCE-2019 AD
Princess Meranie and Duke Ronaldo's Sundrop and Moonstone magic, as well as being manipulated by Pieces of Eden or Terran Old Artifacts, allowed the Kaiwhekea and other Late Cretaceous organisms to target and breed great white sharks somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, from the Osaka region to the city of Auckland. The Mosasaurus, Kaiwhekea, Xiphactinus, Elasmosaurus, and others were seen attacking Abstergo's crab fishing boat named the Paradiso in order to steal the crabs and fishes out of the baited traps, causing the boats to turn over, and the Mosasaurus and others either ate or injured the Abstergo crew, some of them are stranded on Inaccessible Island, the crews were tortured by Inaccessible Island Rails under Princess Meranie and Duke Ronaldo.
As such, it could be suggested that the Mosasaurus, Kaiwhekea, Elasmosaurus, Xiphactinus, Enchodus, Tusoteuthis, and others may enjoy the company of cetaceans and modern sharks, as it was willing to work with them to hunt the same prey rather than kill and eat the orcas and modern animals as ruled by Ronaldo and Meranie's blessings; after defeating Abstergo and Padre Salvi and his gangs. At the very end of the story, before attending Meranie and Ronaldo's wedding in Hawaii, the Late Cretaceous sea creatures were later spotted peacefully interacting with a pod of humpback whales and contemporary cetaceans. To create underwater television for Meranie and Ronaldo's a wedding and the birth of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor before 2020, advanced Saurfolk technology was used to create this gadget.
Instead of getting married, Meranie starts a very successful fashion design company and Kaiwhekea finally arrived in New Zealand as Taniwha. She also creates a happy family alongside Ronaldo and their children Kaia (Hawaiian female for sea), Haru (Japanese male for light), and Taraki (Ilocano male for handsome) in Nevada to farwell her friends. Meranie and her family move to New York to work as a geologist, paleontologist, and conservationist while also working for the Chalk of Paradiso Corporation, a group of Templars, Assassins, and Hunters against Abstergo.
