Azure Rathalos

Dilitirodispodus kokotonica

Azure Rathalos

“ His strange mutations have given rise to a breed of Rathalos that is blue in color. They are more mobile than their conventional counterparts, swoop in for the kill with unmatched speed and fury, and find their prey from the air. There is minimal chance of escape once these expert hunters choose a victim. ”

Azure Rathalos (Dilitirodispodus kokotonica) is a Flying Wyvern and a variant of Rathalos introduced in Monster Hunter G.

Etymology

Coming from English word wrath, because of the word removes the letter W- into rath; and suffix word for masculine -alos.

Physical Appearance

Azure Rathalos is a variant of Rathalos, and thus, it shares almost all of the same characteristics. However, its shell that is usually fiery red is now an azure color, hence the Azure title. Its wing webbing is lime green, and its tail has one single red spike on the end. It has higher stamina, higher health and higher attack power, and is considerably more aggressive.

Abilities

Like all true flying wyverns, Azure Rathalos possess the cunning, speed and strength to fell almost any threat or prey they come across in the wild, though they will rarely challenge anything larger than themselves outside of their territory. They have stronger wings than the regular Rathalos, meaning they can stay in the air longer and pull off powerful combos with their fire breath and poisonous claws.

Weakness

Rathalos are weakened by poison to make fewer fireball attacks, but not poison can nerf. One of the main reasons Rathalos can fall in the sky is a flash bomb that goes off. It also works to free a pinned hunter.

Ecology

A top predator, Azure Rathalos fear little in their habitat range, except other large predators. Azure Rathalos will occasionally attack Epioth in the water in a manner with limited success and is shown to be capable of even preying on bird wyverns such as Great Jaggi and Yian Kut-Ku or fanged beasts such as Congalala or Arzuros. Only a few monsters in an Azure Rathalos's territory are strong enough to fight back if an Azure Rathalos is attacking. Foremost among them are Ivory Lagiacrus, Brute Tigrex, Lavasioth, Green Nargacuga, and other Rathalos. They have also been viewed engaging in aerial battles against another Flying Wyvern, Seregios, as Seregios tend to attack other wyverns over territorial disputes. Astalos is another aggressive wyvern that could harm an Azure Rathalos.

Azure Rathalos has many of the same adaptations as Rathalos; however, there are a few differences between them. Unlike normal Rathalos, Azure Rathalos has blue-colored scales due to a genetic mutation shared by its ancestors. This mutation makes its elemental resistance stronger. The Azure Rathalos is physically stronger than a normal Rathalos, allowing it to fly more often. Due to flying more in the air, Azure Rathalos is well known for being more advanced in aerial combat. Some have even learned to smash into the ground when landing for defense.

Certain rare individuals in the Old World have a more developed flame sac, allowing repeated fireballs of as many as five in a row and strong fireballs that leave a fire trail, a reddish tint, more developed spikes on their backs, and tan wings instead of green.

Behavior

Azure Rathalos are very aggressive and intelligent, even by Rathalos standards.

Distribution and Habitat

Rathalos have been spotted in many kinds of environments, from temperate deciduous to tropical rainforest worldwide.

Tamed

Rathalos can be a pet. The meat dropped by the survivor works when the monster has not noticed the survivor.
