Jiuweihu
“ This is the middle member of the Chinese nine-tailed fox. The first appearance of this peculiar animal, which has eight appendages as impressive as its signature nine tails. This is your home; therefore, don't fool with it; the fox will exploit it to launch a hostile break-in. ”

The Jiuweihu or Huli Jing (Mandarin: 九尾狐 / 狐狸精; Novecaudulpes sinensis) is a mythical creature introduced in Worldcraft: Trio Origins.
Jiuweihu in Mandarin Chinese: 九尾狐; pinyin: jiǔwěihú; "nine-tailed fox".
In 2021, Jiuweihu is descended from red foxes and has a similar color pattern, with the exception that its limbs have fiery fur. It was the only canid with extremely challenging evolutionary biology because it was cursed by magic. It had a reddish mahogany tail with white underneath and orange-black tips, and the real one is in the center with a tailbone and eight appendages that resemble the trademarked nine tails in general without bones but with cartilages. Feelers are pink and yellow appendages on their forehead that resemble feathers. It possessed a wolf-like head, short limbs, and a short body. The Jiuweihu is the most threatened fox species in the Earth Responsibly universe because of its comparable fur coat.
In 2025 Jiuweihu has more than seven varieties, one of which is the normal or red form. It comes in six fur color variants: blond, blue, white, black, silver, and gold. All versions shared a fox build, with short legs and torsos, one actual tail and six false tails that are appendages without bones that follow the true tail and mimic the waving of the nine tails, and they resembled the fabled "nine-tailed" fox. The Jiuweihu has over seven varieties, six of which are distinct due to a genetic mutation shared by its ancestors. The Jiuweihu is the most endangered species of fox in the Earth Responsibly universe due to the same fur coat. This mutation, known as "Huli Jing Gene," causes this species to have different personalities and skills than a normal Jiuweihu or red fox, and it is considered a myth in Chinese folklore.
The Red Jiuweihu had reddish mahogany fur with a white underside and face, as well as two feather-like feelers on the snout with two yellow patches and borders. They had scarlet sock patterns on their limbs. The Red Jiuweihu has a red bushy tail with a single real tail in the center and white and black tips, as well as six feigned tails, which are appendages.
The Blond Jiuweihu, or Desert Jiuweihu, had yellowish dandelion fur with a white underside and face, as well as two yellow feather-like feelers on the snout with two dandelion patches and borders. They had bronze sock patterns on their limbs. The Blond Jiuweihu has a bright yellow bushy tail with a single real tail in the center and dull gold and bronze tips, as well as six feigned tails, which are appendages.
The Blue Jiuweihu had bluish grey fur with a white underside and face, as well as two blue feather-like feelers on the snout with sky-blue patches and borders. They had gray sock patterns on their limbs. The Blue Jiuweihu has a dull ashen gray bushy tail with a single real tail in the center and gray and ash gray, as well as six feigned tails, which are appendages.
The Silver Jiuweihu had reflective silver fur with a white underside and face, as well as two gray feather-like feelers on the snout with two light gray patches and borders. They had non-reflective gray sock patterns on their limbs. The Silver Jiuweihu has a red bushy tail with a single real tail in the center and dull gray tip, as well as six feigned tails, which are appendages.
The Gold Jiuweihu had reflective gold fur with a white underside and face, as well as two yellow feather-like feelers on the snout with two golden-brown patches and borders. They had non-reflective dull gold sock patterns on their limbs. The Gold Jiuweihu has a red bushy tail with a single real tail in the center and dull olive tip, as well as six feigned tails, which are appendages.
The White Jiuweihu or Leucitic Jiuweihu, had pure white fur, as well as two white feather-like feelers on the snout with two light gray patches and borders. They lack sock patterns on their limbs. The White Jiuweihu has a white bushy tail with a single real tail in the center and pure white tips, as well as six feigned tails, which are appendages.
The Black Jiuweihu or Melanistic Jiuweihu, had pure black fur, as well as two black feather-like feelers on the snout with two gray patches and borders. They lack sock patterns on their limbs. The White Jiuweihu has a white bushy tail with a single real tail in the center and less-gray black tips, as well as six feigned tails, which are appendages.
The Huli Jing is not a shapeshifter in the traditional sense, but it is renowned for its capacity to assume "human" form—typically that of a random person who owned the Jiuweihu and was concealed by their long skirts. The Jiuweihu had performed with their human owner.
The Jiuweihu is a highly clever and adaptive fox that can learn sophisticated habits and flourish in both urban and rural settings. The Jiuweihu have keen senses because of their keen sense of smell, good low-light vision, and acute hearing, which allows them to discover small mice underneath. The Jiuweihu can swim rather effectively, much like foxes, but they usually stay out of the water until absolutely essential (e.g., escaping predators or crossing rivers). The Jiuweihu has the ability to climb low trees, walls, and fences.
The Jiuweihu can recognize faces, use and change tools, solve multi-step logic issues, plan for the future, and communicate with dozens of vocalizations, either skin-only or randomly varied. According to reports, the Jiuweihu mimics the noises and words of animals, including humans (unlike foxes, they don't mimicking sounds).
The Jiuweihu spews high-pressure mist beams, which contain something similar to dry ice. Their secretive tails about their sweat glands formed the bubbles. The bubbles are acutely polar ingredients, unfamiliar with soap bubbles. Jiuweihu is enraged at the blood moon, causes a frenzy, and is stronger than others.
The Jiuweihu was mutated from their reincarnation of Mother Hulda and Morozko into the ice variant by the Sami people. Unrelated to Kumihos, this animal is possessed by both bioenergy and qi energy. There are unique bacteria in the lips of all nine-tailed fox species. The frequency of koro attacks—a culture-bound syndrome that is primarily present in southern China and Malaysia—has also been linked to belief in the nine-tailed fox.
Jiuweihu are omnivorous in nature, feeding mainly on fish and other small prey and even pine cones for fruits. These animals are capable predators; they must compete with other large predatory animals from the Korean Peninsula worldwide. As being the result of great longevity or the accumulation of energy, said to be foxes who have lived for hundreds of years (unlike their ancestors), and give them the power of fogging and release the bubbles for mysterious appearance, usually appearing in the form of courtship with tails like peafowls to attract their mate.
It is able to produce the bubbles by using special fluid secretions, produced from its own body along with water, and rubbing its hairs and tail in the secretions. It also has special hook-like claws from the limbs that allow it to stop sliding quickly to face threats.
The Jiuweihu is almost always treated as a malignant figure who feasts on human flesh, fish liver, sheep’s heart, dog’s brain, dragon’s kidney, tiger’s kidney, pine cones, persimmons, roses, azaleas, any souls, and more. Many ancient texts mention the benevolent kumiho assisting humans by negotiating with them.
Like foxes, Jiuweihu are cautious but inquisitive; they are not naturally hostile until they are cornered. Jiuweihu may act boldly or tolerantly with others outside of the city, sometimes taking food handouts. They should not be touched directly, though, as they are still wild animals. Jiuweihu likes to make troublemakers for any reason.
Unlike foxes, Jiuweihu hunt alone, though they may live in small family groups. The nine-tailed fox mark their territory using urine and scent glands. The Jiuweihu is a crepuscular animal that is most active during the day or at night. Barks, yells, body postures (particularly tails), and scent marking are all ways that nine-tailed fox communicate.
Jiuweihu was native to mainland China, Nepal, Mongolia, and rarely Siberia. The populations and variations of Jiuweihu are also dwindling in the north and southeast, where they are now only to be found in solitary mountainous or coral places. Similar to foxes, the nine-tailed fox spirit's primary habitat consists of forests (taiga to tropical), meadows, farmlands, mountains, tundra, desert, badlands, plateaus, rivers, and occasionally both urban and rural regions. It is most prevalent in lowland wooded areas.
During The Recollections of Queen Arianna (TROQA) saga in the 2600s and 2700s, the "Sky People," or Terrans from Earth, brought the Jiu Wei Hu to two exoplanets that resembled Earth: Reinachos from Cygnus and Berbania from Ursa Major. Despite the death of our planet, this species is recovering from endangerment or near extinction thanks to conservation initiatives. Human interactions for game hunting and rewilding produced this species, but they backfired when the nine-tailed fox became an invasive species. The Jiu Wei Hu inhabited two exoplanets that were similar to Earth in terms of climate and environment. According to reports, following the events of the Worldcraft and Equation series, the Jiu Wei Hu was just introduced and sent throughout the whole Dirthsao continent on planet Berbania in the 3020s. According to reports, the nine-tailed fox was imported across the whole Jejirique continent on the planet Reinachos in the 2600s.

In the Song dynasty, fox spirit cults, such as those dedicated to Daji, became outlawed, but their suppression was unsuccessful. For example, in 1111, an imperial edict was issued for the destruction of many spirit shrines within Kaifeng, including those of Daji.
On the eve of the Jurchen invasion, a fox went to the throne of Emperor Huizong of Song. This resulted in Huizong ordering the destruction of all fox temples in Kaifeng. The city was invaded the next day, and the dynasty fell after five months.
