Ioprey and Iodrome
“ Iodrome are alpha monsters that command packs of Ioprey. Iodrome, who are bigger than their brothers and have a more noticeable crest, spit a poison that gradually robs their victim of their life. Subtropical regions are where they are mostly found. ”

The Ioprey and Iodrome (Dilitiriorythros io) are fictional species of saurischian wyvern in Monster Hunter 1. Iopreys and Iodromes are invasive characters to Weather Dragons and Worldcraft from the Monster Hunter series to Disney.
The first word "Io-," which was first used in Monster Hunter's first generation, is shared by these Bird Wyvern dinosaurs Ioprey and Iodrome. It comes from Greek mythology, where Io (Ἰώ) was a stunning princess. Io, a moon of Jupiter that is renowned for having the most volcanic activity in our solar system, is thought by many researchers to be the source of this name.
The Ioprey have lithe, raptor-esque bodies. They have vivid red skin, with some black markings and purplish lavender coloration by the limbs. The Ioprey have very distinctive head crests, large and well rounded. Their lower jaw curls outwards significantly. It is significantly larger than normal Ioprey and possesses a larger crest. Unlike other pack leaders, the Iodrome has a more amphibian look, with salamander-like skin that seems to glisten with moisture, and a frog-like throat sac. It also lacks the sharp claws of its relatives.
Iopreys and Iodrome are easily distinguishable from other raptor species due to their larger size and bulbous frog-like throat sac. This enlarged throat houses the Ioprey's potent poison sac, which gives it the ability to spit toxins at its foes. Whilst this might be a small nuisance to experienced hunters, the fact Ioprey hunts in packs can quickly make them a dangerous threat to a hunter not carrying a supply of Antidotes.
Iodromes and Iopreys primarily feed on insects and crustaceans or other arthropods, which is the reason why they have developed their poisonous sac, along with herbivorous animals, and carrion. However, these theropods must avoid being preyed upon themselves by larger predators immune to their poison like other guardians.
Iodrome and Iopreys have a poison sac inside their throat that allows them to spit toxic poison at prey. This has also made their small fangs poisonous when biting into prey. Even their scales and bones are filled with poison for defense against predators. Iodrome poison is stronger than Ioprey poison and it can even kill Ioprey in near minutes. The crest on their head is said to have some type of use but what it is used for is unknown. This crest was highly poisonous and it is used for courtship to females or a sign of aposematism.
Iopreys are territorial and neutral bird wyverns in their own groups, while the Iodrome is the leader of a pack of Ioprey, and always travels with its pack for protection.
Hunters familiar with Ioprey have observed that their permeable skin constantly need moisture. For this reason, Ioprey tend to dwell in danker regions - such as the Swamp, Great Forest and Jungle - where they can easily avoid dehydration. However, Ioprey are still found in places outside these comfortable habitats, such as in the Volcano, Volcanic Hollow and even the Fortress.
The Ioprey and Iodrome live in lukewarm forests, swamps, dunes, and mountains throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, Papua, and the Americas. Furthermore, they are typically found in marsh and volcanic environments. Norman Osborn and Tony Stark from the Monster Hunter series listed these animals. Arishem "made" the following for the Earth: Boggi, Maccau, Izuchi, Genprey, Ioprey, Jaggi/Jaggia, Wroggi, and Baggi.

Ioprey and Iodrome can be kept as a pet. By feeding with living insects which are caught alive and not tamed.
Many red-colored flightless theropods were also found during Fertile Crescent; many Akkadians considered the Iopreys as demons, while the Israelis as red scapegoats and no significance with the demons, likely from fairies and angels as well as bodyguards like dogs. Prior to the birth of Io, a queen and ancestors of kings and heroes in Greek mythology. However, Princess Io was encountered with the comfort of Iopreys and Iodrome in front of her, though various other purported genealogies are also known and these theropods protect her with the allies and gods from harm in ancient Argos city.

It is possible to "erase" these monsters (and the other 'prey monsters) if you score a killblow with a cutting weapon while they are in mid-air during their high leaping attacks. This will cause them to become sliced clean in half and their remains will instantly fade away, leaving no corpse behind.
Like all of the '-prey' family, this sub-species also fights in a pack.
When fighting the Iodrome, the Ioprey are always with it.
