Lush Espinas
“ A newly discovered wyvern that wasn't yet discovered before the reveal about its nature. And it lives in a deep rainforest and mostly slept in it many hours ago. Their weapon was destroyed by fire, poison, and paralysis. Lack of sleep causes hyperactivity, and high blood pressure has been found in humans. Keep an eye out for it, and throughout your life, use the toxic and debilitating flames. ”

The Lush Espinas or simply Espinas (Spinosapteryx iratas), is the fictional species of saurischian wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter Frontier 2.0 and returned to Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak.
Fittingly, 'Espinas' is Spanish for 'Thorns'.
The Espinas is a green skinned saurischian wyvern with magenta spikes causing poison like a rose. Their thick skin was layered armor keratin with poisonous thorns. Since their color scheme was appropriate for their mainstream game, the Espinas' design now resembles Monster Hunter Rise in both appearance and style.
Since their color scheme was appropriate for their mainstream game, the Espinas' design now resembles Monster Hunter Rise in both appearance and style.
While passive, Espinas will actively follow hunters in the area, but only deal small amounts of damage to them. Espinas has the ability to shoot toxic fireballs that cause both Poison and Paralysis upon impact. In addition, most of its physical attacks cause poison status as well due to the thorns. Espinas also has the ability to charge at great speed whilst ramming with its horn.
During the near-death experience mode, Espinas roars louder than ever and its unique homing charge attack is especially powerful for this reason. In addition, it is more capable of combining its attacks - for example, shooting out five fireballs, then flying backwards whilst shooting the final toxic blast.

Due to the spines that adorn it's body it is shown that it is at the top of the food chain in the Rain Forests to taiga. Common prey include Bullfango, Mosswine, and Aptonoth. Espinas have to compete with Rathian, Abiorugu, Mi Ru, Nargacuga and Zinogre for food and territory, though Espinas have even been known to fight and beat Elder Dragons in battles over territory, further showing their impressive strength.
Espinas get the title, Thorn Wyvern, due to the many thorns found throughout their body. The thorns are very tough, sharp, and ooze poison when Espinas is angered. The miasma, from the thorns, is enough to stop someone from touching the thorns. The hardness of its shell is abnormal to a point where most attacks are repelled, though some scars can still be seen. It isn't easy to damage this shell without Espinas being angry. If greatly damaged while the threat is attacking or if the threat is truly a danger, Espinas will become aggressive as a last resort. Blood veins will be seen on its body, making its armor softer but also allowing it to move faster.
By making its armor softer, it makes it so the armor doesn't inhibit its movements. This means that Espinas gives up defense for a good offense. While enraged, Espinas are able to breath poisonous fireballs at their enemies. These fireballs not only burn prey but, also poisons them. These poisons not only slowly kill prey but also can even paralysis prey. Even if a creature survives a blast from the fireball, the poisons will eventually spread throughout the body.
Very lazy and nonsense, extroverted animal that distrusts enemies by being lazy until they take enough damage, gets enraged. Became violent and wild that attacks on the sight and shoots compound fireballs with poison and paralysis.
The Lush Espinas is an unusually passive Flying Wyvern. In the wild, it can almost always be found sleeping. Even when disturbed and woken up, it still responds disinterestedly to any attacks, casually walking back and forth whilst relying on its thick hide to protect itself.
However, if enough damage is dealt to the Lush Espinas, it will become enraged. When this occurs, it becomes much faster and more brutal, charging aggressors down, ramming them with its horn, and shooting toxic fireballs.
Through the Collider Gate in Central Asia, the Espinas and its subspecies Flaming Espinas were invasive in prehistoric times in the tropical, subtropical, Mediterranean, and temperate ruins and woods of Afro-Eurasia, as well as in the woodland and ghost town regions. Norman Osborn categorized them as invasive species in the Monster Hunter series.

The Espinas can be captured and tamed as a pet. Its favorite food is meat, poison frogs or large or small insects.
In Weather Dragons as the main antihero, it was considered as an invasive character to the Iberian peninsula and was ruled by Isabella of France during her ruling. This saurischian wyvern was native in Iberian peninsula, Michigan to Detroit, Colombia, Indonesia to the Philippines and even the Solomon islands before the Monster Hunter movie.
Espinas dominated worldwide and regional extinction in Central Africa during the classical period by Congolese pygmies to Bantus, causing the death of the couple and blame this wyvern, it was recorded by Arab travellers. Declared by the United Nations and Weather Dragon Association as an endangered species on Earth, and Least Concern on Avalon and world of Monster Hunter.

" Flying wyverns known for the red spikes on their tough green frame, forming both a means of attack and defense, thus generally keeping foes at bay. As a result, they are often seen sprawled out and relaxing in their domain. Once they sense danger, however, they expand their blood vessels to turn their hide and wing membranes a bright red, and they will run riot with noteworthy brutality. "

It and two monsters are Hypnocatrice and Lavasioth in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, while Lavasioth is in Monster Hunter Generations to Monster Hunter World Iceborne as mainly famous for being the first Frontier monster with two relatives: Jyuratodus and Beotodus.
Espinas' design in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is slightly tweaked; the horn on its head is noticeably thinner, and the horns along its body are shorter.
Espinas is the third Frontier monster to appear in the main series, 14 years after the inclusion of Hypnocatrice and Lavasioth in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.
Espinas' name had been spelled as "Espinath" in promotional material for Monster Hunter Frontier; however, this name is not used in its appearance in the main series.
Espinas was voted 46th place in the Hunters' Choice for Top Monster during Monster Hunter's 20th Anniversary.
While a mostly idle account, Monster Hunter Frontier's official Twitter/X account congratulated Espinas' and Flaming Espinas' ranking in the polls.
Espinas was voted 17th place in the 2018 poll for Frontier's Top Monster.
