Plesioth
“ A giant kind of piscine wyvern was introduced from another world to ours. Cunning and curious, unrelated to saurischian, but evolved from cousin to ichthyosaur family. While the mermaid princess never disturbed this reptile with piscine features illegally for Polynesians and Atlanteans ”

The Blue Plesioth (Piscinovipera thalassodraco) or simply known as Plesioth is the fictional species of wyvern-like neodiapsid introduced in Monster Hunter.
The word "Plesioth" is a combination of "plesiosaurs" and "behemoth." The first name is from Ancient Greek: πλησίος, plesios, meaning "near to," and sauros, meaning "lizard," and the last word is behemoth. The word combines to (plesio)saur plus behem(oth).
The Blue Plesioth are bipedal monsters with a wyvern-esque body structure. They have webbed feet and a paddle-like tail and are covered in shiny, fish-like scales. Their mouth is filled with shark-like teeth, and their eyes glow a bright yellow. Their head and back feature large fins that can fold in and out at will. A large aquatic Piscine Wyvern. It is closely related to its subspecies, Green Plesioth, but are more distantly related to other Piscine Wyverm, including Cephadrome and Cephalos, and Lavasioth.
The Blue Plesioth uses fins and upper fangs that cause sleepiness, much like a snake produces neurotoxic narcotic abilities that put the enemy asleep with a single touch or a single bite. The Blue Plesioth can shoot a water beam that is shorter than normal size and even bounce off with its hips.
This is very hard to explain to scientists and the royal family as a hip check, a kind of offensive attack for players during ice hockey or basketball that is stronger than what Nicki Minaj called checking. It is considered an infraction or offensive in the National Hockey League, NBA, or PBA. For its peculiar hitboxes and its hip check, the Blue Plesioth is well-known. Even though these have been fixed in later appearances, jokes about them are still frequently made. In the earlier games, Plesioth was infamous for its large hitboxes, especially with its "hip-check" attack, becoming a popular community joke and even referenced in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, where Green Plesioth can use a move called "Hyperspace Tackle".
Its actions are more passive and land-based; for example, it will use sweeping water beams, body slams, sleep-inducing liquid, fake sleep, and charges on foot, where it will attempt to run over hunters with its pointed spiked feet.
The Blue Plesioth's roar requires Earplugs passive skill to block.
It can be fished out with a frog in certain areas. When fished out with one, the Plesioth will not enter rage mode and will move for a few seconds, giving hunters plenty of time to deal great damage. Supplies and upgrades for the ammunition can be obtained during the hunt, and in some parts of the map, it's possible to fix the boat thanks to Felynes. Using a Sonic Bomb is an easy alternative to fishing out a Plesioth. Just be cautious that it will enter rage mode upon recovering. They dislike loud noises very much and will flail when audibly provoked, as their hearing is extremely sensitive.
The Plesioth is fought differently in the main series; this, of course, means no carving is possible in open areas like water areas. You control a Fighting Fishing Boat (Hawaiian: 船喧嘩漁獲 / Waapa Lawaiʻa Kaua; Japanese: 戦闘漁船 / Sentō Gyosen; Ilocano: Makilablaban a Panagkalap Bangka), a naval watercraft that resembles a miniature warship and catamaran designed for the express purpose of carrying one or more guns to bombard coastal targets. As opposed to those military craft designed for naval warfare or for ferrying troops or supplies to fight Plesioth at Great Open Ocean, the boat is equipped with a cannon or gun and different kinds of ammunition to fight the creature.
When near death, the Plesioth won't enter rage mode if affected by a Sonic Bomb's sound. The Plesioth can be hit with a fishing harpoon to make it drop a shiny and also the Plesioth will put its dorsal fin down when near death.
The Plesioth is a large ambush hunter. The creature can hunt both fish underwater and prey on the surface if it comes too close to the water's edge. Its defenses are somewhat poor, and it will try to avoid any kind of confrontation, be it on the surface or underwater. Plesioth are somewhat territorial, actively patrolling their turf until they find a suitable meal.
On land, it is most likely high in the food chain; due to its size, many monsters would not attack it. However, due to their limited mobility out of water, they are at risk from attacks from other large, more agile monsters, such as Rathalos and Rathian or Tigrex, so they never venture far from their native rivers or lakes.
The Plesioth are more dominant underwater than they are on land, and since there is less competition, challenges would come mainly from the Leviathans, with the Lagiacrus being a major threat, seeing as Plesioth are vulnerable to electric attacks, which the Lagiacrus utilize, but it is unknown what reaction they might pull if interacting with the Ceadeus and Nakarkos. Plesioth have also been known to prey on large serpentine crocodiles and other whales and squids that live within the Jumbo-Kamura (in Monster Hunter) and in Southeast Asia and Africa (in the Earth), according to Queen Arianna.
The Plesioth do not possess gills for breathing underwater, so they have to come up for air every so often to fill their lungs with air. In addition to having lungs, these creatures can also breathe through their skin, like an amphibian or sea snake. Inside their fin's spines, a horrific neurotoxin can be found, much like lionfish's poisonous fins.
This toxin can make a victim fall asleep with a single touch or a single bite much like venomous snakes have fangs with venom. The fins of Plesioth allow it to swim fast enough to pass a galloping horse. Covering a Plesioth's body are these shiny black scales used to hold in moisture. A scale from older Plesioth can fend off claw and fang attacks. The Plesioth have powerful jaws that can crush the shells of carapaces and other armored species, making preying on those species easier. One of its most well-known features is its ability to breathe high-pressurized water at its foes. The water that it uses is swallowed while swimming before the Plesioth actually uses it as a weapon.
Female members of this species are viviparous, and like some sharks, the first of the offspring to hatch will eat their either unborn or smaller siblings within the womb.
The Plesioth are ambush predators, adapted to stalking prey from the water and attacking by surprise. They can occasionally be seen on land.
The Plesioth are commonly found in large bodies of water in a wide variety of environments, such as the tropical rainforest and broadleaf, mangrove forest, bamboo forest, coral reefs, and the waters surrounding them all over the world.
Within the Old World, the Plesioth have been seen living in jungles, old jungles, deserts, misty peaks, and Great Fortress Lake. The aqautic wyverns also inhabit the deserted island and flooded forest of the Moga Region of the Island District Archipelago.

Bullets were used to tranquilize and render the Plesioth unconscious. While they were unconscious, they were fed meat, and if they were close to death, they would repeatedly overdose on drugs. When the Plesioth hatch from a pregnancy, they are quickly domesticated because the survivor is always present in the partner. If the Plesioth isn't already tamed, you can do so by giving it fish eggs, meat, or carcasses.

If Plesioth is killed in water, it will sink and then come back up and float on the surface. This, of course, means no carves are possible. This is not an issue in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.
Plesioth's design is based off of an unknown species of shark.
Plesioth is infamous for its odd hitboxes and its hip check. While these have been fixed in its later appearences, it is still usually joked on.
Plesioth can limp, but this is very rare.
Some of Plesioth's attack have a wider range than what is shown by the animation of the body.
Plesioth returns, where the hunter is able to fight it underwater as well as on land.
Plesioth will lower its back fin when hungry. After it regains stamina or becomes enraged, it will raise its back fin again. When close to death, it will actually limp instead of lowering its back fin.
Plesioth will sleep in area 11 of the Deserted Island in order to recover health, unlike Leviathans, which flee to area 12.
Interestingly enough, Plesioth is interested in land-based prey as well, as it is seen preying on an Aptonoth in the Plesioth Ecology cinematic.
The hitboxes on Plesioth's Hip Check are, for the most part, fixed, no longer striking behind it, and they no longer strike as wide an area as before. Its tail spin also has more realistic hitboxes, dropping lower to the ground as Plesioth bends its knees when spinning.
