Shen Gaoren is the one of the few monsters in the Monster Hunter series as invasive characters or invasive species. In the Monster Hunter universe and our world, this crab was Pre-Silk Road and before the fall of the Roman Empire.

Etymology

Mandarin: 砦蟹; meaning "Godly Tall Man".

Physical Appearance

Identifiable by its grey exoskeleton, towering legs and the gigantic green-yellow balls of acid that it generates and hurls from the rear of its body. Shen Gaoren uses a Lao-Shan Lung skull for protection.

Abilities

Unlike Lao-Shan Lung, Shen Gaoren will occasionally pause to attack enemies directly, trying to slam one of its huge claws down upon one. It may do this twice or even 3 times before proceeding along its path through the valley. It can have towering legs and shoot the gigantic green-yellow balls of acid that it generates and hurls from the rear of its body. When reaching a high ledge, it is possible to jump on Shen Gaoren's back, essentially into the mouth of the Lao-Shan Lung skull after it does its acid blast.

Weather Phenomenon

Ecology

Its colossal size helps it to defeat most creatures. The diet of Shen Gaoren is unknown; however, it is likely to be omnivorous, like most real-life crabs.

Behavior

Shen Gaoren is relatively passive by nature. It moves about without noticing hunters; when enraged however, it may attempt to attack hunters with its huge sturdy claws or move its legs and pincers wildly.

Distribution and Habitat

Shen Gaoren appears in the mountain ranges not far from their world to Eurasia.

Lore

Shen Gaoren was a very rare sighting in the Silk Road event between Japan to Scotland attacked by a single tall deep sea crab. Many people called "Corrosive Cannonball Crab" or "CCC" (Scottish Gaelic: crùbag canain corrach). Many wyverians and felynes didn't know that this crab caused earthquakes and acidified towns and forts. Borrowing the larger Elder Dragon called Lao Shan Lung. Pre-Visayan invasion from Visayas to China, that crab attacks before the present. This diet varied from terrestrial plants to deep ocean ecosystems, as an omnivorous diet like most species of crabs. Unlike the Japanese spider crab, this creature is always crouching and walking slowly, even switching to standing mode.
